Job Description


Job Responsibility
  • Stays familiar with the company's needs
  • Makes supply orders
  • Coordinates with people in different company locations to see if a better price is available somewhere else or if suppliers in a certain area are not living up to expectations
  • Double-checks the work of purchasing staff
  • Communicates with superior and gains approval for purchasing contracts with new vendors or on new supplies
  • Continuously comparing suppliers and negotiates to make sure the company gets the best possible prices on needed supplies
  • Communicates with suppliers and to make sure that supplies get to where they need to be, when they need to be, even when the deadline is tight
  • Maintains a network of professional contacts in order to discover new opportunities for good deals on orders
  • Forecasts demand for certain products and makes orders accordingly
  • Manage vendor and supplier selection process based on price, quality, support, capacity and reliability
  • Establish and update an approved vendor/supplier database
  • Measure and manage the vendor and supplier based on cost, quality, terms of payment, delivery performance, support and after sales service
  • Work with relevant departments to manage inventory requirements
  • Reviewing technical specifications for raw materials, components or equipment

Job Requirements
  • Degree Holder in business, material management or engineering
  • Experience in purchasing and procurement
  • Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain systems, MRP/ERP system is an added advantage
  • Management/supervisory experience
