Job ResponsibilityMain Purpose of the Job:
The Waiter serves tables and attends to the needs of guests in the hotel's dining areas.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Maintain familiarity with menu items, specials and restaurant information
- Set tables according to service standards or type of event
- Setting up of service stations, polishing of silverware, folding of napkins and other preparations for daily operations
- Welcome customers and present menus
- Answer questions, make menu recommendations and inform guests of any specials
- Take meal and beverage orders from customers and communicate these to the kitchen, as well as additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs and/or special requests
- Prepare drinks and serve them to customers
- Collect prepared food orders from the kitchen, verify that they are correct and ensure adherence to company's standards in terms of product quality and presentation
- Deliver meals and beverages to tables
- Check that customers are satisfied with their meals and up-sell additional products when appropriate
- Report customer problems and complaints pertaining to F&B to superiors
- Clear empty plates, glasses and silverware and send to kitchen for cleaning
- Prepare and present bills to customers and process payment
- Clean tables after customers left
- Keep the restaurant and bar clean and comply with all regulations and procedures with regards to health, safety, sanitation and food hygiene within the F&B department
- Monitor dining area and bar equipment and report issues to superiors
