Job Description


Job Responsibility
FUNCTION
o The English Language Teacher provides leadership and guidance to the Sheffield Academy Sdn Bhd and is responsible for its day-to-day operations, with operations both in Malaysia and abroad.
o The English Language Teacher will build on Sheffield Academy Sdn Bhd successes to contribute towards the realisation of its Strategic Plan in delivering meaningful humanitarian action.
o Leads a dynamic team of professionals and ensure excellent delivery of the organisation's core business, the humanitarian aid, in an open, accountable and transparent manner.
o Manages all administrative and operational matters of the organisation (including policies, budget and staffing).


QUALIFICATION
o An effective leader and manager who can oversee complex programmes, relationships and competing priorities.
o Will need good financial, budget planning and management skills at both strategic and operational levels.
o Demonstrates management skills and ability to lead and motivate staff, volunteers, and engage with external stakeholders in a cross-cultural environment and international settings.
o High integrity and conscientiousness, and ability to project professionalism.
o Experience in fundraising and philanthropy will be a welcome asset.
o The candidate should be someone with at least ten years of working experience and at least five of those years in senior management and/or leadership position.
o Experience of working in the humanitarian and development sector with at least a few years in a leadership or management position is highly preferable, although not mandatory.
o Excellent command of English, written and spoken.
o Be in good health.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
o Perform all spectrum of Teaching & Learning as per assigned subjects and programs including portfolio development and tutorial and examination papers development.
o Responsible for academic achievement of the students especially on the subject taught and conduct research on better and more effective learning techniques and methodologies for students.
o Responsible for improvement or added value to improve academic standards as outlined by Malaysians MINISTRY.
o Implement and manage Faculty activities including planning for out-of-classroom activities and engaging in student activities that require the involvement of lecturers.

Master's or Equivalent

POSITION DESCRIPTION
o You will work collaboratively with Management and Sheffield's other staff to ensure Sheffield meets productivity and efficiency targets as fixed by the Board of English Language Teacher s related to design, development, delivery, implementation and evaluation of innovative teaching materials, products. and services to meet the needs of enterprise, industry and students.
o Where relevant, you will ensure programs are designed, promoted, delivered and validated in accordance with program requirements. You will also ensure that the courses are industry relevant and will help procure work placements for students as part of the Program requirements on a continuous basis.
o Within the team, you will effectively implement learning and teaching strategies, including work integrated learning and assessment, to meet the needs of students, employers and industry clients and interact effectively with other teams in the Division and other key internal and external stakeholders.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR THE POSITION LEARNING AND TEACHING.
o Implement operational strategies along with the team to ensure on - shore student recruitment, selection, counselling, recognition of prior learning and student induction is conducted in an efficient and effective manner.
o Oversee the assessment of students in a range of contemporary Sheffield and field placement settings. This includes ensuring that accurate records are maintained of student class attendance, student academic progress and student assessment in line with Sheffield's policy and procedures.
o Implement Sheffield strategies to improve the quality of training within the team.
o Work with Management and other relevant staff to regularly review programs and ensure implementation of suggested improvements in program content, student assessment methods and in program delivery to meet the needs of the students, industry and relevant training package.

INDUSTRY ENGAGEMENT
o In consultation with the company shareholder
o Implement strategies to increase commercial and profile activities
o Support industry based projects in the relevant industry area Assist and maintain regular contact with industry stakeholders ( ie industry and regulatory bodies involved in Business / Management programs , work placement providers and other employers ) to ensure currency of industry practice.
o Invite Industry Speakers / Students trips / excursions

COMPLIANCE
o Ensure that the program complies with all academic and administrative systems and is carried out in a professional and timely manner.
o Comply with the policies and procedures of Sheffield.
o Ensure compliance of the day-to-day quality assurance processes for products and services to ensure programs are designed, delivered and validated in accordance with MOE and standard requirements where applicable and contractual obligations.
TEAMWORK, STRATEGY AND INNOVATION.
o Ensure development and implementation of Sheffield's strategic and business plans.
o This in clues regular and effective communication with the English Language Teacher and / or other relevant Sheffield staff / stakeholders.
o Participate in building and developing team capabilities and scope of business.
o Undertake regular and effective communication with the English Language Teacher and / or relevant staff in order to align activities with Sheffield priorities for innovation and project activities.
MANAGEMENT / LEADERSHIP
o Ensure positive working culture is established and innovative processes are used in the provision of services to meet the needs of enterprises, industry and students.
o Ensure implementation of work plans and regular feedback to the English Teacher of Academics
o Identify professional development activities for you to maintain and develop your skills and knowledge relevant to your profession or discipline in accordance with Sheffield policies with prior approval of the English Language Teacher
o Achieve team goals as set by Management

BUDGET AND PROFILE
o Manage resources and timetabling. This includes effective and regular communication with the team and across Sheffield.
o Implement student scheduling to ensure productivity and efficiency targets are achieved for Sheffield Develop and meet team's commercial profile targets and special cohort targets.
OTHER DUTIES
Undertake similar duties as they arise and / or identified from time to time. Staff responsibilities may be varied by Sheffield in order to allow Sheffield to respond to operational needs or requirements.
