Job ResponsibilitySECOND ENGINEER
Shipboard Operations
o Ensures safe working conditions are maintained in the engine room
o Assist the Chief Engineer during bunkering operations and ensures bunkering checklists are complied with
Repairs and Maintenance
o Assist the Chief Engineer with the inspection and maintenance of the entire ship's machineries and equipment including deck and accommodation machineries
o Report to the Chief Engineer any machinery problems that he comes across or highlighted to him
Supervision of Personnel
o Assist the Chief Engineer in planning the work schedule of the Engine Department personnel
o Ensures adequate watch are maintained both at sea and in port
Pollution Control and Prevention
o Ensure the vessel complies with all pollution prevention regulations at all times
o Notifies Chief Engineer immediately of any defects, which may affect the ship or risk the marine environment
