Job Description:
?Job requirements and drilling program information for wellsite operations are identified andcommunicated by the Excellence Logging Operations Manager according to the Excellence Loggingapproved Service Delivery Process (SDP). This includes customer and regulatory requirements;operational conformity checks and levels of satisfaction.
?Pre job briefing and debriefings must be given by Excellence Logging Operations Management, by theClient's drilling supervisor or Engineer and by the drilling contractor supervisor during briefings andthrough daily pre-job task risk assessments (TRA).
?Job Preparation
?Attend the pre-spud meeting and meet with key client representatives (Drilling Manager, OperationsGeologist, Drilling Engineer) to develop a good understanding of the drilling challenges & risks andexplain the role and responsibilities of the Pore Pressure Engineer.
?Get fully acquainted with the Well Drilling Program, pre-drill pore pressure prediction, structuralgeology, pressure generation mechanisms that may be present in addition to data of relevant offsetwells including all potential risks associated with the drilling of specific formations.
?Review or create a data acquisition plan (timing, sample size, materials needed)
?Establish the connection between the wellsite computer, LWD tools and any other streaming datasource such as mud logging data (Gas, ROP etc...).
?Wellsite Operations
?Ensure the quality of acquired Mud Logging and M/LWD data by the respecting service company.
?Provide petrophysical pore pressure & fracture gradient analyses for real time optimization calculationof overburden, pore pressure and fracture gradient predictions (e.g. LOT/FIT and formation pressures).
?Monitor and predict pore pressure whilst drilling with the help of real time LWD & Mud Logging data.
?Support the client Well Engineering and Rig teams for pre-drill estimation of pore & fracture pressureand update the model in real time by:
-Calculating the vertical stress, from RHOB and/or velocity data.
-Calculating shale pore pressures from LWD, Mechanical, and Shale Density data (GR, Resistivityand/or Sonic, D-exponent, RHOBsh) using the current model (i.e. calibrated to all data points).
-Calculating the fracture gradient from real-time pore pressure & vertical stress
- Calculating shear failure pressure using the current model and update pressure and fracture models when additional data (LOT's, MDTs, RFTs, WL data, etc.) becomes available.
- Reviewing & getting customer approval on all changes to the model for calibration purposes.
- Providing a prognosis of expected pore pressure and fracture gradients & identify potential hazards if current drilling practices are continued.
- When available & required by the client, integrate seismic velocities into pore pressure prediction.
? Collect additional relevant data
- Gather relevant pore pressure indicators (back ground vs. connection gas, ROP, cavings,..)
- Compute gas ratios: Simple, IBR, GEX
- In the event of an influx or losses, determine where the influx or losses are occurring and the mechanism of losses.
- Analyse LOT's and summarize interpretation.
- Using ESD and ECD, inform drilling supervisor if wellbore pressure is outside the PP-SFP-FG window in the open hole.
? Cuttings Data analysis
- Monitor wellbore stability at shakers at regular intervals according to the data acquisition plan.
- Estimate fraction of cuttings to cavings.
- Diagnose & photograph cavings (if present), include in daily Pore Pressure Report & recommend corresponding remedial action.
Reporting:
? Provide the Client wellsite representative, drilling team and Sub-surface team with:
- An accurate pre-drill pore pressure and fracture gradient estimates
- A daily report of relevant pressure management information as per client reporting requirement.
- The End of section report and prognoses.
? At the end of the well, submit all well data, original and copies, to the Excellence Logging Operation Manager or Client, as per Client's instructions.
