Scope of Responsibilities:
Responsible for performing all tasks assigned in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with the established operating procedures and written and oral instructions from the Process Engineer (Commissioning) / Shift Supervisor.
Primary Duties:
Coordinate the commissioning, start-up, shut-down (normal & emergency) and normal operations with Process Supervisor and field operators.
Operate DCS control console to coordinate and regulate process variables and to direct flow rates of various process and utility streams as per prescribed schedules.
Analyze alarm trips, logic, interlocks, permissive, overrides etc. and take necessary action.
Take part of plant start-up and operations by operating valves, pumps etc. from DCS as per supervisor/engineer instructions
Read processing schedules, operating logs, test results of samples, and laboratory recommendations to determine changes in equipment controls required to produce specified quantity and quality of product.
Ability to ensure stable plant/unit operations and monitor flow, level, temperature, pressure, etc. to ensure that plant/unit operates normally without trips/shutdown.
Set controls to adjust process variables, such as flows, temperatures and pressures.
Responsible for recording, compiling, reporting, and documenting operating data, and monitoring process indicators.
Determines developing trends in operating conditions, reporting significant changes and initiating action as required.
Initiating unit, train and emergency shutdown of process and utility system during abnormal operation, or as a result of an emergency situation on the installation
Initiating appropriate action in the event of process and utility system alarms and trips.
Perform basic calculations for determining process parameters and material balances.
Analyze complex problems and operate under the pressure of emergency conditions.
Responsible for preparation such as plant isolation etc., for day-to-day commissioning/maintenance activities.
Work directly with the client DCS operators in the transfer of technical advice during the initial period of operation.
Assist in Site Acceptance Tests for equipment and packages as per approved project procedures.
Assist in loop check and Functional checks of the equipment as per approved project procedures.
Assist in Safety Integrity Functions(SIF) loop checks during commissioning
Assist in ICSS sequence checks for start-up, shutdown and operation of package equipment. E.g. high energy pumps, compressors, Turbo-expanders etc.
Ensure the necessary checks, smooth and trouble free running of packages as per the vendor data sheet specifications.
Accurate interpretation and understanding of P&IDs, process flow diagrams, circuit diagrams and control narratives.
Decision Making Authority:
Identifies problems and suggests resolution to Supervisor.
