- Setting up milling machines and positioning workpieces
- Selecting and running CNC programs (CNC mills)
- Monitoring the machining process (CNC mills)
- Machining workpieces manually (manual mills)
- Checking that finished workpieces meet all specified dimensions and tolerances
- Performing routine maintenance on milling machines and tools
