Job Responsibilityo A professional approach must be adopted with all patients, staff and visitors.
o To provide medical cover, routine and emergency, during hours of duty and work in conjunction with the other RMO to provide a 24-hour service to the hospital.
o To clerk in and assess admissions as required when the relevant consultant is not immediately available.
o To perform evening ward rounds at oncology ward and ICU in the presence of DNA and nurse team leader to monitor patient progress.
o To review and maintain legible clinical notes on a regular basis.
o To carry out a comprehensive handover from outgoing RMO to incoming RMO on a daily basis.
o To make an entry in the patient's notes as appropriate following ward rounds or any other patient examinations, communication or procedures.
o The RMO can spend time in theatre, observing/assisting procedures if agreed by the Consultant and head of department and return to their respective station when required.
o Under no circumstances should RMOs seek consent for operations or procedures on behalf of a Consultant.
o RMOs must seek consent for any procedures that they intend to undertake.
o To act, as may be reasonably required, on behalf of the Consultant in their absence when requested.
