Job Responsibilitya) Unlimited DPO
The Senior DPO on watch is the Masters deputy and has the authority to forbid the start or order the termination of any offshore operation on the grounds of safety. The Senior DPO has overall responsibility for the safe operation of the DP system and continued station keeping of the vessel. During subsea operation he liaises with the appropriate ROV/ Dive and Survey Supervisor.
b) Restricted DPO
The Junior DPO is responsible for the routine operation of the DP system when he is in charge at the DP console. He reports directly to the Senior DPO. The Junior DPO will keep the Senior DPO closely advised of operational developments during the period of desk time.
