Job Description

Job Responsibility
  • Periodically conducts audits and reviews to ensure execution of compliance standards
  • When compliance problems arise, conducts investigations to discover the roots of the issue
  • Stays informed about environmental standards and makes sure a company operates within those standards
  • Examines and improves auditing processes to prevent compliance issues or resolve them in a timely manner
  • Communicates confidentially with employees and addresses any concerns they have about ethical or other compliance matters within a department or division
  • Strives not only to meet compliance standards, but also to exceed them for peak operating efficiency
  • Demonstrates knowledge of ethical employment standards set out by the law and corporate regulations
  • Excellent written communication skills needed to draft and revise company policies.
  • Proactive work style, keeping ahead of the curve in auditing of processes, practices, and documents to identify weaknesses before they become problems.
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail needed to evaluate business activities (e.g. policies, investments, client partnerships) and assess compliance risk
  • Ability to collaborate with outside professionals, including external auditors, and HR as needed.
  • Solid understanding of what is needed to form critical plans to manage crisis events or compliance violations, should they ever occur.
  • Teaching skills to educate and train employees on all necessary regulations and industry practices.
  • Availability and willingness to listen to and address employee concerns and questions on legal compliance.
  • Commitment to continued learning, remaining well-informed regarding internal standards and business goals.

Job Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Compliance Officer or Compliance Manager.
  • Experience in risk management
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and controls (e.g. Anti-Money Laundering, or AML)
  • Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Integrity and professional ethics
  • Business acumen
  • Teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Professional certification (e.g. Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) is a Plus .
  • Confident
  • Smart casual/formal attire
